Waterford 3 Holds First of Its Kind Drill

Killona, La. – Waterford 3 personnel will conduct a security response drill on Aug. 26 beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing through the early afternoon. The drill will involve local law enforcement, State Police, the FBI, emergency services, and the local fire department.

During the drill, local residents will see first responders in the parking area near Highway La. 18. The parking area will serve as a mock plant site. Outside agencies will not enter the plant itself which will remain at full power throughout the drill.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission directed each U.S. nuclear plant to conduct such a drill. The activity provides a tremendous opportunity to learn how to respond in the unlikely event of a security related incident. It also further develops the already strong relationships between Waterford 3 and the various agencies involved in the drill
