Timothy G. Mitchell, Senior Vice President, Nuclear Operations

Timothy G. Mitchell is the senior vice president of nuclear operations. He is responsible for the overall safety, security and reliability of the operating fleet.

Prior to this position, Mitchell served as senior vice president and chief operating officer for Indian Point Energy Center in New York, Palisades Power Plant in Michigan and Cooper Nuclear Station in Nebraska. Cooper is owned by the Nebraska Public Power District and Entergy Nuclear provides management services to the plant.

Mitchell previously served as senior vice president of engineering and technical services for Entergy Nuclear beginning in March 2009. In this capacity, he oversaw key areas of Entergy’s nuclear operations including engineering and project management.

Prior, he served for two years as vice president of operations for Entergy’s Arkansas Nuclear One. As ANO site vice president, he was responsible for the daily operations of the plant located in western Arkansas near the city of Russellville.

Mitchell joined Entergy at ANO in 1989 as a plant engineer. He was later promoted to BOP system engineer in 1990, system engineering manager in 1993, manager in training in 1997, Unit 2 operations manager in 1999 and director of nuclear safety analysis in 2004. Later in 2004 he transferred to Waterford 3 as director of engineering prior to promotion to general manager of operations at ANO in 2005.

Following completion of his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri of Rolla, he worked as a start-up engineer for Wolf Creek, Hope Creek, South Texas Project and Comanche Peak before joining Entergy in 1989. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
