Timothy G. Mitchell, Acting Chief Nuclear Officer
Timothy G. Mitchell is the acting chief nuclear officer at Entergy, headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi. He is responsible for the overall safety, security and reliability of the operating fleet.
He was serving as senior vice president of nuclear operations before assuming responsibility for the fleet.
Prior to this position, Mitchell served as senior vice president and chief operating officer for Indian Point Energy Center, Palisades Power Plant, James A Fitzpatrick, Vermont Yankee and Cooper Nuclear Station. Cooper is owned by the Nebraska Public Power District and Entergy Nuclear provides management services to the plant.
Mitchell previously served as senior vice president of engineering and technical services for Entergy Nuclear. He oversaw key areas of Entergy’s nuclear operations including engineering and project management.
Mitchell also served as vice president of operations for Entergy’s Arkansas Nuclear One and was responsible for the continued safe and efficient operation of the plant.
Mitchell began his career as a start-up engineer for Wolf Creek, Hope Creek, South Texas Project and Comanche Peak. He joined Entergy at ANO as a plant engineer. He held various roles increasing in responsibility including system engineering manager, training manager, Unit 2 operations manager and director of nuclear safety analysis. Later he transferred to Waterford 3 as director of engineering prior to promotion to general manager of operations at ANO in 2005. He has more than 34 years in commercial nuclear power experience.
Mitchell has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri - Rolla and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas.
